Who We Are

Our Vision

Our primary purpose is to see Christ formed in every individual. When nominal Christians grow in Christ, His character, purpose and passion becomes evident in them. Through an intentional emphasis on making disciples and equipping them for the works of service God has prepared for them the individual and the body of Christ is made stronger, (Ephesians 4).

Our vision to be a Church without walls is accomplished as we disciple individuals to the “Irreducible Core” which is to love God, and love our neighbors and make disciples.

Our Philosophy

The people of God are the church and individually members of His body. Every Believer is a Minister of Christ and gifted for the work they are called to. Although we can serve Christ individually, we are far more effective when partnered with other believers. We believe that believers will produce the greatest amount of fruit in a ministry they are gifted for. We believe that God has given every believer natural and spiritual gifts. When our gifts are combined and exercised in concert with other members of the church accomplish their intended purpose.

We encourage members of the body of Christ to discover and develop the gifts and talents God has given and to employ them their gifts in the congregation and community. We can best accomplish this by becoming a participating member of the spiritual community.

Our Method

Employing the equipping ministries listed in Ephesians 4:11-12. Discipleship groups and small groups that meet on campus and in homes. The Ministry of the Saints: God has given every believer natural and spiritual gifts. These gifts, when combined and exercised in concert with the members of the church, serve to accomplish the work of the ministry. Every true believer should view themselves as ministers of Christ.

Spiritual Formation

A variety of methods incorporating gifted Elders, small groups and Seminar workshops work towards establishing our Church. At Amherst Christian Church intentionally focused small groups and ministry teams meet regularly for the purpose of fellowship, friendship, evangelism, discipleship and service. Our small groups are structured to meet the needs of church members and those with similar interests in the secular community. The church in the New Testament was comprised of small groups that meet weekly and gathered together for corporate worship on the Lord’s day (Acts 2:42-47).

What WE Believe

GOD

  • In one God eternally manifested in the persons of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

JESUS CHRIST

  • That Jesus Christ was and is the eternal Son of God and co-equal with the Father
  • In His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of God the Father and in His personal return to this earth in power and glory.
  • That the redemptive work of Christ provides for the whole man-spirit, soul and body.
  • That the Lord has called us to live an abundant, victorious Christian life through faith in Christ’s atoning work, i.e., His suffering and death on the cross, and in the power of His resurrection.

HOLY SPIRIT

  • That all who have received Christ as their personal Lord and Savior have the Holy Spirit
  • That the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a second experience subsequent to and following the new birth.
  • That the evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit power in the life of the Christian and is accompanied by a physical sign- most commonly speaking in new tongues.
  • That the ministry and gifts of the Holy Spirit, as enumerated in (l Cor. l2:1 -l4) are valid and are working in the church today.
  • That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to quicken the word of God to the Christian and empower him to live the Christian life.

BIBLE

  • That the Bible is the infallible word of God, inerrant in its original languages, breathed out by the Holy Spirit, and that it is the basis for all Christian doctrine, life and conduct.

MAN

  • That all men have sinned and face judgment, eternal death and punishment and are incapable of saving themselves.
  • That the only way man can be cleansed from his sin and receive eternal life is through grace by faith in the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • That man is justified by faith in Jesus Christ apart from works.

CHURCH (A Church Without Walls)

  • That the church is not a place but a people called by God for His possession and purpose. (Titus 2:14) By nature God intended His church it to be a loving spiritual community with Christ as it central and most important member.
  • That is the responsibility of the all believers to grow towards the fullness that is in Christ Jesus in the loving, accepting environment that God establishes as we commit ourselves to be discipled and disciple others. (Ephesians 4:13-16, 17)
  • That God has called and placed each member in the local church and given them a primary gift that is to be used for the building up of the body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 12: 1-14; Ephesians 4:12)
  • That as individual members of Christ body we are called to personal ministry in and outside the walls of the building as we bring Christ to those in the sphere of our influence. (Ephesians 4:9-16)
  • In water baptism by immersion into the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus as carried out in the book of Acts.

ETERNITY

  • In the resurrection of the dead, the saved to eternal life and the lost to eternal judgment.
